Started in 2004, the José Vaz Public Library draws people from the locality, especially students from the many neighbouring schools and encourages them to cultivate the culture of reading. It holds a valuable collection of Children’s books besides 7,000 volumes for the general public. The reference section is well staffed with encyclopedia and other reference books. Publications on Goa and goan culture, and books on environment are some of the special features of this library.
Besides the annual library day that brings together school children from more than 12 institutions to discuss on relevant issues, the library also conducts awareness programmes and competitions to help children develop a reflective and critical mind.
